Concert to celebrate 70th anniversary of Universal Declaration of Human Rights today

The Cultural Village Foundation- Katara is set to organise a concert held under the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights today held with the cooperation of the National Human Rights Committee and the office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights and Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra. 

The concert that shall take place at 8 pm at Katara’s Opera House is scheduled to entail a short film prepared by Qatar Foundation for Social Work on the services of Shafallah Center in the field of integrating people with disabilities into society. In addition to a performance by Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra comprising of musicians like; Marcel Khalife, Nasser Sahim, Wael bin Ali, and Dana Al-Fardan.

Last Friday and Saturday, the Cultural Village Foundation- Katara witnessed a number of events in the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which is scheduled to run until today. Stating a few events, folkloric performances took place at Katara’s Amphitheatre held under the Cultural Diversity Festival which is sought to be organised by Katara in cooperation with the Unesco office in Doha. 

Audiences enjoyed distinctive folkloric performances from: Algeria, China and Macedonia. Additionally, Katara Fine Art Symposium saw the participation of 30 artists, amongst them 12 Qatari artists and 8 artists from; Algeria, Iraq, Sudan, Pakistan, Egypt, Syria, Senegal, and India. 

The National Committee for Human Rights has participated with a number of activities, notably: drawing and colouring activities for children. Furthermore, the committee were responsible of distributing books that contained reports on the unceasing efforts of the State of Qatar in promoting human rights, and allotting gifts to the audiences. 

The office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights participated with a children’s corner that included: artistic workshops, a playground and reading area. On the occasion of the celebration, participants also took pictures with the global hashtags launched by the UNHCR, as Qatar is part of these global celebrations along with a large number of individuals from around the globe.
