Obituary: Tenor Juan del Bosco Dies at 41

Mexican tenor Juan del Bosco has died at the age of 41.

Del Bosco was the founder and President of the International Summer Opera Festival of Morelia, which in its first year became the third largest Festival in Mexico.

He was also the founder of Passion for the Opera, which aimed to support operatic vocal careers.

Outside of his managerial career, he was an international tenor who made his debut at Carnegie Hall and Apolo Theater in 2016. He would go on to perform at the Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City and the Lincoln Center. He also performed in Europe and performed the Mexican National Anthem at Tennis’ Davis Cup.

His repertoire was diverse and included such roles as Rinuccio in “Gianni Schicchi,” the Duke in “Rigoletto,” Roméo in “Roméo et Julieta,” and the title role of “Faust.”
