Merola Opera Program Reveals 2025 Slate

Merola Opera Program has unveiled its 2025 season.

“This season’s programming is crafted to inspire joy, spark curiosity, and celebrate the depth of artistic expression. With vibrant repertoire and a strong focus on holistic training, we’re creating a space where the 2025 Merolini can take bold risks, grow as artists, and build meaningful connections with each other and with our audiences. It’s a summer shaped by creativity, purpose, and a deep belief in the future of opera,” said San Francisco Opera Center Artistic Director Carrie-Ann Matheson and General Manager Markus Beam (Merola ‘02), both of whom lead Merola’s artistic program, per an official press release.

First up is “A Grand Night for Singing: An American Songfest,” starring pianist Ronny Michael Greenberg and the 2025 Merola artists.

Performance Date: June 26, 2025


Next up is the “Schwabacher Summer Concert, It’s Complicated: Love & Opera.” Omer Ben Seadia and Elio Bucky provide stage direction to Merola artists as they perform scenes from operas by Donizetti, Puccini, and Gounod. William Long conducts the San Francisco Opera Center Orchestra.

Performance Date: July 10 & 12, 2025


Next up is Rossini’s “Le Comte Ory” in a production directed by Garnett Bruce and conducted by Pierre Vallet.

Performance Date: July 31 & August 2, 2025


The Merola Grand Finale concert will be conducted by Kellu Cuo and directed by Elio Bucky. It will feature scenes from several opera classics and lesser known musical gems.

Performance Date: August 16, 2025
