Fans have been asking about the absence of one character in Weatherfeld. Coronation Street has continued to grip viewers this week as newcomer Theo Silverton has left Todd heartbroken after their whirlwind romance. The drama reached boiling point on Monday's episode as Theo's wife Danielle was suspicious he was having an affair.

Despite the chaos on the ITV soap, viewers found themselves asking the same question about one actor. Taking to social media, one wrote: "Where is Gary Windass?" More added to the conversation on X: "Where is Gary btw? He hasn't been on screen for ages?"

Gary, played by Mikey North first joined the show in 2008 and has been a key part of the cast through some of the show's most dramatic storylines.

The character is currently enjoying a more settled period in the soap as he enjoys his onscreen marriage with Maria, played by Samia Longchambon. Viewers have received little to no information about Gary's whereabouts over the last few months, before he returned to screens this week.

Coronation Street spoilers reveal that Gary will shock his wife as he admits he is thinking of selling up the furniture shop and buying the builder's yard.

The actor stopped appearing in episodes around the time of the Mason Radcliffe's murder plot in January, reports The Mirror. Maria's son Liam was targeted by Mason which led him to struggling with his mental health. The teenager also caused Sean's son Dylan Wilson to be suspended.

Gary's absence has not gone unnoticed, with Maria's presence on the soap being just as limited. Samia took to Instagram earlier today to respond to questions regarding her on-screen husband's disappearance.

One fan asked: "Your onscreen husband hasn't been seen in a while, when will he be making an appearance?" Samia responded via a video message as she said: "Gary will be making an appearance very very soon, I think our storyline starts this week so keeps your eyes peeled and it's going to be a good one."

It is not the first time Samia has taken to social media to discuss her co-stars. Earlier this month she shared her support for Jack P Shepherd (David Platt) who is currently in the Celebrity Big Brother house alongside other famous faces.

Jack was almost evicted from the show at the beginning of the series after he received the most votes from his housemates, including singer Chesney Hawkes, former CBBC host Angellica Bell, drag artist Danny Beard, comedian Donna Preston, TOWIE star Ella Rae Wise, and actress Patsy Palmer.

Samia Longchambon has known Jack for a long time, with both being long-standing characters on Coronation Street. She took to Instagram to share a selfie of the two. The caption read: "Didn’t think I’d be posting this just yet but drop a vote for our @jackpshepherd88 to stay in the @bbuk house a bit longer please guys… We definitely haven’t seen the best of him yet!!"

Jack soon won his housemates over and he is currently in the final group of six celebrities who are in with a chance of taking home the crown. The Celebrity Big Brother final will air live on ITV this Friday April 25 at 9pm.

Coronation Street continues on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm on ITV and ITVX
