Survivor: Nicaragua star Jane Bright has passed away at the age of 71, it was confirmed on Thursday.

The reality TV star's death was announced by her daughter Ashley Hammett on Facebook in a statement which read: "Today Jane Hammett Bright was found passed away within her home by a good friend and county sheriff." A cause of death was not disclosed.

Born in North Carolina, Jane made her debut on Survivor: Nicaragua in 2010 as part of season 21. Appearing on the show saw Jane take a break from her day job as a dog trainer. Jane won $100,000 as the winner of her season's fan favorite award. She kicked off the season in the Espada tribe, and she ended up finishing in 6th place out of 20 contestants.

Fellow Survivor stars Sandra Diaz-Twine and Survivor Season 15 winner Todd Herzog remembered Jane on social media upon hearing about her passing.

Meanwhile Todd wrote, "Love you Jane! Always in our hearts!" On X, formerly Twitter, Survivor fans also share their grief over Jane's death.

"I’m heartbroken to hear about the passing of Jane from Survivor Nicaragua. She was always a fire cracker! Catching her own fish and cooking it in secret will always be legendary. May she rest in eternal peace. #Survivor," a fan penned on X.

A second shared, "#Survivor Nicaragua contestant Jane Bright has passed away at the age of 71 in her home, per her daughter. RIP to the officially-sanctioned fan-favorite of the season, who proved what "farm strong" (to quote Charity) could look like, and that age was just a number."

Another added: "So sad to hear this. Jane was with us at UNC this fall for a Survivor 47 viewing. She said she never missed the show and watched every episode 3-4 times!"

Someone else shared: "Lord, I sure did get my heart broken when I opened up Facebook after work! One of my favorite Survivor family members, as I call them all, has passed away. I loved Jane so much!!! This lady was a firecracker! Always ready to have a good time and a good laugh! RIP Jane."
