The Golden Jaguars have intensified preparations for their impending FIFA World Cup Qualifiers following the commencement of a training camp in Costa Rica, with the team slated to be finalised shortly ahead of their third encounter against Nicaragua on June 6th.

This was disclosed on the Facebook page of the Guyana Football Federation (GFF). According to the GFF, the training camp, which features a preliminary squad, will be concluded on June 4th and will feature a practice match against a Costa Rican club side.

Head coach Wayne Dover said, “The preparation camp will provide us with the ideal atmosphere to focus on the tactical and physical components necessary for success. The players are responding well, and we are confident in our ability to compete strongly in both upcoming fixtures.”

The Golden Jaguars are set to resume their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign on June 6th away to Nicaragua. They will then host Montserrat four days later at the National Track and Field Centre in Leonora.

The team must secure victories in both of their matches to stand any chance of advancing to the next round after currently sitting in third place on three points. Presently they are behind undefeated Panama and Nicaragua, who are positioned on six points apiece.
