As part of the Italian Republic Day celebrations, the Municipal Theatre of Lima, with the support of the Municipality and the Italian Embassy, hosted a concert conducted by Evelino Pidò, one of the most internationally renowned Italian conductors.
In his first performance in Peru, the famous conductor performed a selection of arias from the most famous operas in the Italian opera repertoire with the Orchestra and Choir of the Municipal Theatre of Lima, from the Ouverture of Gioacchino Rossini's 'William Tell' to Vincenzo Bellini's 'La sonnambula', from Gaetano Donizetti's 'La Fille du régiment' to the most famous arias from Giuseppe Verdi's 'Macbeth', 'Aida' and 'Vespri Siciliani'.
Combining the artistry of young local talents with the mastery of Pidò, the evening symbolised the close ties between the two countries and enchanted the audience, bringing to life, on the occasion of the 79th anniversary of Republic Day, the magic of the extraordinary production of Italian Opera.
