This summer, Swedish-Argentinian singer-songwriter José González returns to Luxembourg for a special performance at the Festival de Wiltz 2025, bringing his signature blend of delicate guitar work, soft vocals, and lyrical introspection to the historic open-air amphitheatre.
Known for his minimalist style and emotional depth, González has built a devoted global following with just a handful of solo albums over the past two decades. Since his breakthrough single Crosses in 2003 and his acclaimed debut album Veneer, he has remained remarkably consistent in his quiet, meditative approach. His music has earned widespread acclaim and taken him to iconic venues such as the Sydney Opera House and London's Royal Albert Hall.
His most recent album, Local Valley, continues this artistic thread. With gentle melodies and philosophical reflections in both English and Spanish, the record offers a sense of calm in a fast-paced world. The result is music that feels deeply personal and quietly powerful.
This year's performance marks González' return to Wiltz after a warmly received concert in 2017. Set within the scenic surroundings of the Wiltz Castle Amphitheatre, his 2025 appearance promises an evening of thoughtful, immersive songwriting. It is the kind of live experience that invites listeners to slow down and tune in.
The concert is part of the Festival de Wiltz, which takes place from 27 June to 20 July 2025. Celebrating cultural diversity and artistic quality, the festival’s programme includes a wide range of performances across music, dance, theatre and contemporary circus.
Highlights this year include Guinean acrobatic troupe Circus Baobab, flamenco dancer María Moreno, fado singer Carminho, British rock band Skunk Anansie and German group Element of Crime.
Festival artistic director Marc Scheer says the goal is to create a space where live performance is accessible to all, while maintaining a clear and original cultural identity. "What truly matters is a targeted programme that highlights Luxembourg’s cultural richness", he explains. "This festival should offer something for everyone without compromising on artistic quality."
