Biffy Clyro has announced their first acoustic album and tour, hailing the return of those iconic MTV Unplugged sessions.

The Scottish band follows the footsteps of Oasis, Nirvana and George Michael, who released similar acoustic offerings in the mid 1990s.

The band will be coming to Manchester Opera House for a single show on the 22nd of September.

Tickets will go on sale on Friday 11th of May at 9am on www.ticketmaster.co.uk or www.livenation.co.uk and the album is released on 25th of May.

Fans who pre-order the CD, DVD, or vinyl edition of the album on http://mtvunplugged.biffyclyro.com / will also receive a pre-sale code for the tour tickets.

Tour dates include:

September

15th – Dublin, The Helix

16th – Belfast, Waterfront

18th – Cardiff, St. David’s Hall

19th – Birmingham, Symphony Hall

21st – Edinburgh, Usher Hall

22nd – Manchester, Manchester Opera House

24th – London, Royal Albert Hall

The tour will then head to France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland and the Netherlands.

The album features live show favourites such as ‘Many of Horror’, ‘Re-arrange’ and ‘Medicine’, fit perfectly for the project. But surprises include new, seriously stripped-back renditions of their heavy tracks, including ‘The Captain’, ‘Black Chandelier’ and ‘Bubbles’.

Taking it back to basics as much as possible, ‘Machines’ is performed just with a single acoustic guitar by frontman Simon Neil.

The global premiere of the Roundhouse performance will be broadcast on MTV on the day of the album’s release at 9pm, followed by a second showing on MTV Music at 10pm.
